CC Website News: Default Website Theme Upgrade

Posted by: Drek on Nov 21, 2008
CC Web
I am in the process of recoding our default theme (pt20X) to be xhtml compliant, and as much as possible, tableless. I realize this won't mean much to most of you, but the point is to make the theme easier to upgrade to the new version of Post Nuke (now called Zikula), and to make pages load faster.

Expect there to be some oddities in the website while I do this. I have no idea how long this is going to take me, but hopefully it won't be more than a week. This shouldn't affect the ExtraLite theme for the website, if you are using that.

CC Website News: Caching Problems With the Website

Posted by: Drek on Nov 09, 2008
CC Web
We seem to be experiencing some problems with caching for the website. I have been experimenting with caching directives in an attempt to improve website performance, and there have been some problems with, specifically, the calendar. So if you click on a calendar link, and the website goes haywire on you, you can try clearing your browser cache. You may also need to restart your browser.

I have been experiencing these problems primarily with FireFox. If you experience problems with the website, please, if possible, let us know. You can either post to the Spider's Parlour forum, or you can use the Contact Us option at the top of the page.

CC Website News: Stats Being Upgraded

Posted by: Drek on Nov 01, 2008

After a small accident this morning, all the game stats are being upgraded to the latest Psychostats nightly version (basically a beta for Psychostats 3.2). I don't expect any major issues, but they may be down, or may be in the process of updating if you come looking for them in the next hour or two.

edit: The databases have had to be completely reset, so if you did any customization of your player page, you will have to do that again. Note that this option is only open to contributors. For more information please visit the Club House forum (only accessible to full CC members).

edit again: It may take me more than an hour or two to finish this up. But it should be done by the end of the day tomorrow at any rate, and probably before then.

CC Website News: Server Down Time

Our server was down for most of the day today while I installed and configured our new router. Apologies to anyone who may have been looking for us. We may experience some more down time in the next few days as I delve further into configuration.

We bid a fond farewell to our BrazilFW router that served us so well. The new router doesn't have all it's functionality, but it is wireless (no, the server is not on a wireless connection smile ), which will allow visiting relatives, etc. to connect to the net. It also, more importantly, should use less than 5% of the power that the outgoing router uses, which in these days, is extremely important.

CC Website News: Our First Day of Defeat: Source Heatmaps!

Posted by: Drek on Sep 27, 2008
CC Web
We finally have our first Day of Defeat: Source heatmaps. If you check the stats for dod_flash and dod_kalt, in the upper right there is a link to the heatmap for each map. I will be adding the rest during the next while - yes I am deliberately being vague...

Hopefully it won't take that long to finish them now that I know what I'm doing but the heatmaps for DOD: Source are a bit more finicky than they are for Natural Selection as the boundaries of the maps tend to be much less well defined.

I was hoping we would also be able to have hit location and damage statistics, but the heatmaps SourceMod plugin is interfering with the logs for those stats. We will have to wait for a fix to be released, or if none is forthcoming, choose between hit location/damage stats, and the heatmaps.

edit: It turns out that the spatial data plugin is interfering with more than just the damage and hit location logs, it is swallowing the logs for client ip's as well, so for now I am disabling the plugin. Until that is fixed we won't have any more spatial data (data for the heatmaps) to work with.
